万物有生有死,这是自然规律。宇宙和地球也逃不出这个规律,不过我们看不到地球的产生和死亡的过程,因为这个过程的时间很长很长。天文学家在浩渺无垠的星空,看到有的星球新生,有的湮灭,说明各种星球有生有死。那末地球的生存期有多长呢?科学家不断地研究这个问题。因为地球的生存期与太阳系的生存期分不开,必须根据太阳系内的物质变化来研究。一般分两段,首先研究地球已经历了多少年,即年龄多大,然后根据物质发展规律研究地球还能生存多久。
