日本的小麦生产在世界上所占比重很小。1984年,该国小麦种植面积23.2万公顷,单产3.2吨/公顷(合每亩213.3公斤),总产量75万吨。全部供应国内市场,自给率为12%,尚需进口小麦500万吨。虽然如此,日本的小麦研究却很有成就,在很多方面居于世界领先地位,包括小麦遗传学、细胞学、生物工程(主要是染色体工作)以及种质研 Japan’s wheat production accounts for a very small part of the world. In 1984, the country’s wheat acreage was 232,000 hectares with a yield of 3.2 tons / hectare (213.3 kilograms per acre) and a total output of 750,000 tons. All supply the domestic market, self-sufficiency rate of 12%, still need to import 5 million tons of wheat.
