The Aceh-Sumatra earthquake in 2004 strongly stimulated the Earth’s free oscillations. The amplitude of the complete split provides useful information about the source of the earthquake. In particular, the unimodal phase of the splitting constrain the duration, the length of the rupture and the average rate of rupture. To constrain the space-time limitation of the source, we analyze the initial phases of some very slow free oscillations (0S2, 0S3, 0S0 and 1S0) of the earth. We use broadband seismograph vertical recording and superconducting gravimeter data from several worldwide geophysical networks. The estimated rupture length of this earthquake is about 1220km, the duration of source is about 500s and the average rupture speed is 2.4km / s.
