A comparison based on both corrosivity and stability of bivalent tin showed that organic sulfonate electrolyte clearly outperformed sulfate over fluoroborate electrolyte. The oxidation resistance of organic sulfonate electrolytes is particularly advantageous in the case of high-speed electroplating. For example, high-speed plating of wire, you must use two conditions prone to oxidation, strong mixing and high current density. The performance of organic sulfonate electrolytes allows equipment design that improves process control and product quality to be more flexible in material selection.
