香炉,即焚香的器具。用陶瓷或金属、玉等做成种种形式。其用途亦有多种,除异味、添香气;或熏衣﹑或陈设﹑或敬神供佛。出香的历史可追溯到战国时期,湖北随县曾侯乙墓出土一件铜炉,经专家考证为熏炉(香炉的一种),认为此种形制的熏炉适合焚燃树脂香料。汉六朝以后,佛教盛行,以焚香供神佛,寄托人们的情感,因而各种形制的香炉就多了起来。镇江博物馆藏古代香炉最早的为汉代,均
