美国普查局是联邦政府最大的统计机构,1986年有工作人员8347人.普查局成立于1902年,原属美国内政部,1903年划归商业与劳动部.1913年商业与劳动部划分为两个部时,普查局划归商业部.
The U.S. Census Bureau is the largest statistical agency of the federal government with 8,347 staff members in 1986. The Census Bureau was established in 1902 and originally owned by the U.S. Department of the Interior and was assigned to the Ministry of Commerce and Labor in 1903. In 1913 the Ministry of Commerce and Labor was divided into two Department, the Census Bureau was placed under the Ministry of Commerce.
