上个世纪八九十年代,笔者在解放日报编《朝花》副刊,联系了一批著名作家,其中就有高晓声先生。还记得第一次约高先生写稿,是在1993年。我给他的函件中没有提题材要求,不过当时副刊正在举办“今日江南”散文征文,信中也说倘然是写有关江南的题材,放在征文栏里,那也极欢迎。《朝花》几乎每年都会搞一次征文,这是鉴于刊物近距离反映现实生活的需要。倘有名家为此撰文,扩大栏目影响,那是我们所期望的。高晓声接信后即予回复,信中说:
In the 80s and 90s of the last century, the author contacted a group of notable writers in the compilation of “North Korea Flower” in the Liberation Daily, including Mr. Gao Xiaosheng. Remember the first time Mr. Gao wrote the manuscript in 1993. I did not give him a letter to mention the material requirements, but was supplemented by the current “Southern Yangtze River” essay writing, the letter also said that if it was written on the subject of Jiangnan, on the column essay, it is also very welcome. The issue of essays on “Flower” almost every year is due to the need of the magazine to reflect real life at close range. If there is a famous writer for this article, to expand the column impact, that is what we expect. Gao Xiaosheng reply immediately after receiving the letter, the letter said:
