The incidence of mumps in the United States has been declining for 15 years due to the use of the mumps vaccine. Since 1986, an increase has been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), but it is still 96% lower than in 1968 when the first mumps vaccine was first introduced. In the first half of 1987, the number of cases continued to increase, which is four times of the same period of last year. During the 1986-1987 school year, mumps surveillance was conducted in 16 universities in Illinois, Wisconsin and South Dakota, and a total of 480 cases were reported, with an equal male-female incidence, but the male incidence in the University of Illinois (WIU) was female 2.7 times. The incidence of accommodation students is much higher than non-living
