明王常《集古印谱》卷六18页著录有下列一方玉质私玺:从其文字风格来看,显然是战国楚玺。此玺左边一字,可隶定作“(?)”,即“绅”宇,楚文字资料中常见,多为人名用字,如楚玺中有“登绅” (《古玺汇编》1932)、“茅(?)绅”(同上2249),楚简中有“ (一中十巳)绅”(《包山楚简》93)、“秀绅”(同上101)、“ (?)(毕?)绅”(同上159)等,均其比。这样看来,上揭私玺中左边一字“绅”应是人名字,而右边二字则是一复姓。 “徒”上一字,亦见诸包山楚简,写作:
