1991年3月15日,海湾战争的硝烟刚刚散去,笼罩在胜利光环中的多国部队总司令、美国四星上将H·诺曼·施瓦茨柯普夫踌躇满志地接受电视记者芭芭拉·沃斯特的采访。记者问他:你凭什么指挥以美军为主的多国部队以几乎零伤亡的代价,在地面攻势中只用100小时就打败了侵占科威特的60多万伊拉克大军,俘虏伊军6万多人?施瓦茨柯普夫回答说:我也没想到伊军这么不经打。不过在这次“沙漠风暴”行动中多国部队的战略运用确实很成功,不仅赢得了战争,也赢得了和平。在讲到个人体会时,他总给性地强调了一名: “下令要部队上战场算不得英雄,身先士卒上战场才是英雄好汉。” 了解这位西点名将曲折经历的人都知道,他在这里讲的不是敷衍记者的官话,而正是他始终恪守的带兵信条。
On March 15, 1991, the smoke of the Gulf War had just dissipated and the commander of the multinational force enveloped in the aura of victory. The U.S. four-star general H.
