增产节约是我国进行社会主义建设的基本方法。今年是我国进行第一个五年计划的最后一年,全国人民正在大力进行增产节约,公路系统也不例外。今年由于国家全面安排,对公路建设投资有些缩减,加以当前原材料的供应也很紧张,在这种情况下,更须切实地、积极地厉行增产节约,才能使公路运输工作适应国民经济发展的要求。那么,我们应从那些方面来进行增产节约呢? 第一、公路设计是否合理是能否节省国家投资、节约材料和降低成本的重要关键。因此,在国家投资相对减少和材料供应紧张的情况下,贯彻“分期修建”和“就地取材”的原则,就具有特别重大的意义。如在产砖石的地区,就应尽量用砖石做墩台、拱涵、石拱桥和石盖板涵等;产木材地区,尽可能多做木桥。一船路面,除规定者外,应视当地所产材料种类,设计不同的路面。在低窪的道路上,根据具体情况,可采用过水路面、过水桥,并应尽可能利用原有构造物。至于安全系
