一微型课程(minicourse),由美国依阿华大学附属学校于1960年首先开创,又称短期课程、课程组件。一系列的半独立的单元,构成微型课程。这里的“单元”区别于现行课程中学科课程的一章一单元的分解方式,它不是根据学科应有的知识体系、逻辑系统来编排,而是根据儿童的兴趣、主体活动的经验、教师的能力、社会的发展状况来编订的,也可称专题。因此,微型课程是儿童发展、社会现实、学校可能三者统合起来的课程。“半独立”
