The p16 protein, a product of the tumor suppressor gene p16, is the first cell-specific protein that has been found so far to directly inhibit the cell proliferation cycle. Its inactivation will attenuate the mechanism of cell growth inhibition and promote the development of tumors. In this paper, 80 cases of gastrointestinal leiomyosarcoma (ALS) were retrospectively studied.
