After the super vector computer was officially put on the market in the early 1980s, the western petroleum industry immediately used it in a positive manner. There are mainly two aspects to the application. One is used for the data processing of oil seismic exploration, the other is used for reservoir simulation and Logging data analysis. Petroleum geophysical contracting companies are mainly used for the former, while oil companies are both. French Geophysical Corporation (CGG) and PHILLIPS, the Shell Oil Company is the first geophysical services companies and oil companies to use super vector computers.
