“消防”一词,系日本语,在日本江户时代开始出现这个词,最早见于亨保九年(清雍正二年,1724年)。到明治初期(清同治十二年,1873年),“消防”一词开始普及。但“消防”的根在中国。日本的文字从中国的汉字演变而来,汉字早在西晋太康五年(284年)就开始传入日本。“消防”一词不仅字形与汉字完全相同,字义也无差别。“消防”一词的出现,充分反映了当时中日两国文化交流的密切。我国官办消防由来已久,古代消防称火师。周称司煊、司耀;宋代称防隅、潜火军;元代、明代称救火兵丁:清代初年称防范火班。古汉语中的“救”字,有阻止、控制的含义,古人所说的救火,
