The Metallurgical Department held a director’s meeting of open hearth metallurgical system metallurgical system in Baotou from June 26 to June 30, 1987. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary Qiu Xuankai of the Secretary for Steel. A total of 61 steel mills and related units of a total of 61 representatives attended the meeting. At the general assembly and the sub-group meeting, the delegates earnestly studied the issue of how to make better use of the existing open hearth furnace during the Seventh Five-Year Plan, further improve the energy saving and production increase, quality improvement and consumption reduction of open hearth steelmaking.
