1951年3月,人民文学出版社正式成立,由文化部和出版总署共同领导。冯雪峰由周恩来总理指定,出任社长一职。人民文学出版社最初设立三个编辑室,分别负责现代文学(即今天所谓的“当代文学”)与“五四”文学、古典文学与民间文学和外国文学的编辑工作。除此之外,还有一个鲁迅著作编辑室,是冯雪峰在上海主持的鲁迅著作刊行社,1952年7月
March 1951, People’s Literature Publishing House was formally established, under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Publishing Administration. Feng Xuefeng was appointed by Premier Zhou Enlai as president. People’s Literature Publishing House initially set up three editorial offices to take charge of the editing work of modern literature (so-called “contemporary literature” today) and “May 4th” literature, classical literature and folk literature and foreign literature respectively. In addition, there is a compilation room of Lu Xun’s writings, is Feng Xuefeng in Shanghai, presided over by Lu Xun’s book publishing house, July 1952
