唐宋以降,中国绘画已不满足于外在形式的描绘,逐渐重视作品思想内涵的表达,注重画家综合修养,提倡诗书画结合。宋元时期,出现不少诗书画皆擅的画家,苏东坡、赵子昂、倪云林是其代表。明清之际,文人画盛极一时,诗书画三绝画家较多,著名的有扬州画派金农、郑板桥、李复堂等。海派画家吴昌硕、赵之谦更是诗书画印四绝,在晚清画坛上风光无限。民国继
