Nano-sized cobalt catalyst supported on SiO2 aerogel coated withZrO2 exhibits high FTS activity and C5+ selectivity. In this paper, thepromotion effects of manganese on structure, texture, reduction and FTSperformance of Co/ZrO2-SiO2 catalyst were examined. The results show thataddition of proper amount of manganese lowers the methane selectivity andraises C5+ selectivity, and diesel and light wax are formed from syngas overCo(10.71%)-Mn(1 .57%)/ZrD2-SiO2. The carbon number distribution of CoMn/ZrO2-SiO2 no longer follows SF distribution. Two distinct peaks(maximum point at C11 and C17 respectively) are observed in the profile ofcarbon number distribution for Co-Mn/ZrO2-SiO2, which indicate theexistence of two kinds of active sites on the surface of the catalyst.
