This article describes the impact of the installation of the ESR unit with a maximum capacity of 33 tonnes on the forging operation. The factors that influence the size selection of a suitable ESR mold are also discussed. Electroslag remelting ingot excellent surface finish and internal quality, improve the heating and cooling rate, there is a better use of sensible heat and each press has a larger reduction. The results of the four steel grades were provided showing the extent of improvement in yield and the improvement in yield during forging due to improvements in inclusions by remelting operations. Upsetting and high temperature impact tensile tests according to size specimens did not demonstrate the excellent hot formability of forged wide ESR ingots. The study to determine the effect of deformation on the uniformity of mechanical properties is also outlined.
