在解决某些数学问题时,有时常规方法不能奏效时,不妨去考查数学问题的特殊情形,即去研究它的“极端”情形或“临界”状态等.在极端情形之下数学问题呈现的特点或规律常常能使问题明朗化、简捷化.我们试从考查问题的极端情形入手实现解决问题的思维方法叫极端性原理.笔者试从几个角度来例谈它的一些应用.
