Objective: To observe whether the life under low oxygen environment caused the change of kidney volume. Methods: There were 105 soldiers who lived in plain areas for more than 6 months and had abnormal urinary biochemical abnormalities. Among them, there were 50 soldiers in Xining region (2 260m above sea level), 21 recruits in Haiyan region (elevation 3 200m), Haiyan Regional veterans group (enlisted for 1 year ~ 3 years) 34 people. The control group was enrolled in the Beijing area (31.2m above sea level) for six months from the plain and 41 normal urine biochemical soldiers. Ultrasound observed double-kidney volume, and exclude test subjects due to body surface area of the size of the kidney volume. Results: There was no significant difference in kidney volume between groups. CONCLUSIONS: Hypoxia on the plateau can cause damage to the glomeruli and tubules and produce abnormal urine biochemistry [2], but does not cause changes in the kidney volume.
