To test the performance of the seeker in a crowded installation environment, Martin Marietta of the Orlando Aerospace Agency developed a 35GHz millimeter-wave radar detector that meets tactical size requirements. As the assembly and packaging of tactical weapons are gaining more and more attention, we design this detector to meet the required performance parameters, and can be installed in the vast majority of modern guidance weapons, seeker housing. The final size of the seeker can be reduced to 7 inches (diameter) by 17 inches (length) by using a planar array monopulse antenna and using a microwave integrated circuit (MIC) in the transmitter and receiver. This radar detector is fully coherent, dual circular polarization, and uses a dual-channel single-pulse receiver. To work with the Radar Explorer to form a complete radar seeker test prototype, we also developed a programmable digital signal processor, although its mechanical assembly structure was not designed to meet the tactical requirements.
