上月,邮电部部长吴基传与英国大东公司首席执行官布朗在北京签署协议,在第一阶段合作中,中国电信(香港)将以每股14.25港元的价格,共计91.77亿港元,向大东公司收购6.4亿股香港电讯股份,占香港电讯总股份的5.51%。大东公司准备在第二阶段合作中,放弃在香港电讯的控股地位,向中国电信(香港)转让股份,以期二者最终股份持平,与此同时,邮电部的窗口公司——中国电信(香港)将为大东公司提供独特机会,使之成为中国电信(香港)的主要投资者,从而能够进入中国蓬勃发展的电信市场。第二阶段工作预计在明年上半年完成。香港电讯至今年6月5日,总市值超过2000亿港元,为香港第四大上市公司,其大股东为总部设在英国的大东公司,持股59.44%。有关人士对此次香港电讯股权重组安排给予较为积极的评价,伦敦、香港两地股市也以大东、香港电讯两只股票急升显示正面回应。据悉,中国电信(香港)的上市工作正在紧锣密鼓地准备
