For more than a decade, there have been some major changes in Venereal diseases, both in name and in content. Because of the prevalence of syphilis and gonorrhea since the widespread use of sulfanilamide and penicillin in the 1940s, the content of STDs has also changed significantly. Some scholars refer to previously unheard-of but sexually-transmitted diseases such as those caused by pathogens such as viruses, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma, fungi, intestinal bacteria, protozoa and insects and also to human diseases, so in 1975 The World Health Organization (WHO) decided to sexually transmitted diseases (Sexually Transmitted Diseases hereinafter referred to as STD) to replace the name of STD.
