The new mechanism of laser accelerating charged particles is demonstrated. In conjunction with sharp focusing with intense laser pulses, the acceleration is determined by the light pressure and the longitudinal component of the electric field with the same direction. This shows that a (parametric) laser can accelerate electrons to e ~ 1GeV, comparable to that achieved by a “giant” accelerator. In this case (as opposed to the literature discussion), accelerating is insensitive to the initial phase of the field, accelerating low-speed electrons and solving the problem of accelerating electrons from the field.
