Nitric oxide (NO) is an important molecule involved in inflammation and immune response and is a kind of neuronal information molecule. The biochemical characteristics of nitric oxide and endothelin suggest that they are associated with the pathogenesis of glaucoma. This review focuses on the role of nitric oxide and endothelin in the regulation of intraocular pressure (IOP) and ocular blood circulation and apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells (apoptosis)
