晁载之《续谈助》一书,具有较高的文献价值,以往对是书的利用远远多于研究。《续谈助》宋元间未见著录和引用,明《文渊阁书目》始著录于册,编成于明初的《永乐大典》引录二十余条材料,与世所行本有别。是书今所存本均为五卷本,其中以明嘉靖四十一年(1562)姚咨手抄宋本为最早,存有较为完整的面貌,具有极高的版本价值。今天所存诸本,除孙鋆抄本外,均出自明抄本。
