我对现今出版社的生活很不熟悉。读了《编辑学刊》1997年第4期上王曦昌先生的《集体讨论、通过图书选题好不好》以后,顿时有一种惊奇的感觉:想不到竞争已如此深入地渗透到编辑工作的各个环节。记得出版改革刚刚开始的时候,有出国考察国外出版事业的同志回国后介绍说,由于竞争激烈,外国的选题计划是出版社最大的秘密 I am not familiar with the life of today’s publishing houses. After reading the Editorial Symposium, No. 4, 1997, on Mr. Wang Xi Chang’s “Collective Discussion on Choosing a Good Topic by Selecting Books,” there was a sudden feeling of surprise: I never imagined that competition has infiltrated all aspects of editorial work in such a profound way. I remember when the publishing reform was just beginning, comrades who went overseas to study the cause of overseas publishing said after returning to China that due to fierce competition, foreign topics are the biggest secrets of the publishing houses
