The extraction capability of aurum with di-(2-ethylhexyl)monothiophosphoric acid from hydrochloric acid solu-tion has been studied. The extraction capability decreases with the increase of acidity. It is showed by the saturation method and equal Moore series method that the composition of the extraction complex is AuR3. IR and 1H NMR studies indicate that the extraction mechanism is a cation exchange process through coordination with P=S bonds.
