Onion alcohol extracts treat bronchial asthma in animals and humans and found that this is related to the thiosulfinate (TS) component in onions. TS has inhibitory effects on histamine release, leukotriene and thromboxane synthesis, and bronchial obstruction and hypersensitivity induced by allergens and PAF. This article compares the inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolism by TS and Ccpacncs (CS). Nine TSs and four CSs (0.25 to 100 μmol/L) isolated or synthesized from onion significantly inhibited seminal vesicle microsomal cyclooxygenase (CA) and porcine leukocyte 5-lipoxygenase (LO) activity in sheep and were dosed Dependency, the inhibitory effect on LO is more significant than that of CA. CS is the most effective inhibitor of LO and CA isolated from onion so far.
