“Universide”是一个字典上查不到的英文单词。但在初秋,这个意为“大学生运动会”的英文单词却充斥日本福冈,以至对英文极为陌生的日本百姓一听到它便会眼睛一亮,发起音来也丝毫不会比英美或澳大利亚人来得差。 “Universide”来自“University”(大学)和“Olympiad”(奥运会),官方解释为“为学生设立的奥运会”。就此而言,我们以前称世界大学生运动会为“小奥运”颇为准确,并在前几届大运会上按“小奥运”的规格派出了众多高手出战,连续两次登上了金牌榜的次席。 “Universide” is an English word not found on the dictionary. However, in early autumn, the English word meaning “college games” flooded Fukuoka, Japan, and Japanese people who were unfamiliar with English would have heard it as soon as they heard it. They would not sound like English, American or Australian speakers at all difference. “Universide” comes from “University” and “Olympiad” (Olympic Games), officially explained as “Olympic Games for Students”. In this regard, we used to call the World Undergraduate Games quite accurate for the “Little Olympics” and have sent many masters to the “Little Olympics” at the previous Universiade and the second place in the Gold Medal twice in a row.
