李奇教授是美国著名批评理论家、《诺顿批评理论选集》主编、俄克拉荷马大学讲座教授。他的《解构主义批评》(1983)和《美国文学批评:30年代至80年代》(1988),后者的2009增订版改名为《1930年代以来的美国文学批评》)为我国学者所熟悉。他的后期著述包括《文化批评,文学理论,后结构主义》(1992),《理论之重要》(2003),《与理论同行》(2008)。北京大学出版社即将出版《理论之梳理,批评与辩护:李奇选集》(2010)。本次访谈成于2009年4月。在批评理论兴起半个世纪之后的今天,对它进行回顾与展望,话题涉及到我国批评界关注的一些重要的理论问题,包括:对“批评理论”的界定,批评理论兴起的时代和学术背景,文学研究与批评理论的关系,批评理论和文学院系乃至和研究型大学的关系,对文化研究的反思,“后理论”以及“反理论”思潮出现的缘由,以及批评理论未来的发展和命运。
Professor Li Qi is a well-known critic critic in the United States, editor-in-chief of Norton Criticism Theory and lecture professor at the University of Oklahoma. His “Deconstructionist Criticism” (1983) and “American Literary Criticism: The 1930s and 1980s” (1988), while the latter’s 2009 edition was renamed “American Literary Criticism since the 1930s”) are familiar to Chinese scholars. His later writings include “Cultural Criticism, Literary Theory, Post-Structuralism” (1992), “The Importance of Theory” (2003), and “Theorist” (2008). Peking University Press will soon publish The Theory of Combing, Criticism and Defense: Selected Works of Li Qi (2010). The interview was completed in April 2009. Today, a half century after the rise of critical theory, it is reviewed and prospected. The topic involves some important theoretical issues that our critics pay close attention to, including the definition of “critical theory”, the era of criticizing theory and Academic background, the relationship between literary research and critical theory, the relationship between critical theory and literary faculties and even research universities, the reflection on cultural studies, the reasons for the emergence of “post-theory” and “anti-theory” thoughts, The future development and destiny of theory.
