When a fixed appliance is inserted into the patient's mouth for the first time, a misalignment of the brackets or a misalignment of the operator, either directly or indirectly, will cause the bracket to settle in place. This paper presents a five-step mechanism for assessing and correcting the misalignment of the brackets in order to achieve simultaneous alignment of the crown with the root and shorten the treatment time.
