登封“天地之中”历史建筑群,无论是从整体或个体,抑或是其肇始或发展来看,都是由于对“天地之中”的追求所致,无不与“天地之中”理念有着密切的关系。登封“天地之中”历史建筑群,是一处以“天地之中”为理念的优秀的人类文化遗产,它所代表的嵩山文化景观是今人了解古代建筑艺术以及儒家文化、佛教文化、道教文化、山岳文化乃至民俗文化的重要参照物,是认识历史、了解古代社会的重要基地。
