In 1933, Ding Ling, author of “Shafei’s Diary,” and famous writer Ding Ling, was arrested by the Kuomintang for several years in prison in Nanjing. On November 1, 1936, under the well-planned arrangements of the party organization, Ding Ling fled Nanjing and pretended to belong to the families of the Northeast Army. They were accompanied by two women and four men and seven were accompanied by the party.
