The summer of 1956 is a “summer of things” for the United States. This year, the United States was hit by the worst drought ever. The air crash in the Grand Canyon killed 128 people. It was during this year that a group of scientists at Dartmouth College launched a month-long meeting. In the meantime, they started discussions around such topics as automated computing and neural networks. Although initially no consensus was reached on the term “artificial intelligence,” the meeting eventually agreed to use the new term proposed by artificial intelligence guru John McCarthy: Artificial Intelligence
