The National Institute of Cardiopulmonary Blood divides food and drink into three groups: “Go ” “Slow” and “Whoa” as a guide to the correct diet for children. According to the nutrition data provided by the Food and Dietary Nutrients Research Database 2004, this study compares the Go, Slow and WhoA three-level food taxonomies with the ranking by food nutrient enrichment index. First, 1,045 food and beverages were assigned to Go, Slow and Whoa groups and then ranked using a nutrient-rich food index model. The Nutrient Enrichment Food Index model is based on nine nutrients: protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium; and three restricted nutrients: saturated fat, Sodium, calculated per 100 calories. Go, Slow, and Whoa Tier 3 food taxonomists and nutrient-rich food index models make it easy to distinguish between energy-intensive and nutrient-rich foods and beverages, and Go, Slow and Who’s Food Taxonomists and Nutrient Enrichment Indexes for Food A level of close fit. However, there are differences in the classification of some cereal fortified foods, dairy products, and zero- or low-calorie sweeteners. Unlike the Go, Slow, and Whoa models, the nutrient-rich food index model provides a continuous assessment of the alignment of a given category of food. This study provides examples of different nutrient measurement systems for the identification of healthy foods and beverages.
