1998年8月至10月,在对西夏陵3号西碑亭遗址的全面清理中,发掘出土了4座人像石座(其中一座己遭严重破坏),这与70年代发掘、清理出的西夏陵遗址人像石座有不小的差别。70年代,考古工作者先后在西夏陵遗址3号陵、6号陵、8号陵碑亭遗址处发掘出8座人像石座。它们大小基本相同,质地皆为砂岩,表面呈浅赭色或青灰色,高宽厚均在60厘米上下,均为正方体,正面以剔地起突法雕出人像,造型奇异,手法
From August to October 1998, during the overall clean-up of the West Beiting Pavilion site on the 3rd Xiaxiling No. 3 site, there were unearthed four portraits, one of which had been severely damaged.
