Objective To investigate the postoperative depression in patients with Meniere’s disease and its relationship with vertigo and quality of life improvement. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 46 cases of Meniere’s disease hospitalized with endolymphatic sac decompression between 2013 and 2015. The self-rating depression scale and the results of Meniere’s disease were evaluated. The number and the degree of vertigo were also selected. Ninety-five patients with gender, age and duration of disease were selected as the control group to fill in the self-rating depression scale. The relationship between depression, dizziness and quality of life . Results Of the 43 Meniere’s disease patients who completed the depression self-rating scale, 69.77% (30/43) had no depression, 13.95% (6/43) mild depression, 16.28% (7/43) moderate depression, No severe depression, while the control group, 95 cases were no depressive symptoms. There was no linear correlation between quality of life and depression (Spearman correlation coefficient -0.205, 犘> 0.05) after the onset of postoperative dizziness and depression in Meniere’s disease (Spearman correlation coefficient 0.241, 犘> 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in depression between patients with different degree of postoperative vertigo control (Chi-Square statistic was 1.895, 犘> 0.05). Conclusion About 30% of patients with Meniere’s disease have different degree of postoperative depression, and have little relationship with postoperative control of vertigo and quality of life after operation.
