In the summer of 1966, Fritz Sturtler, a Bernese mineral gatherer, found a sample of minerals he did not know in the south of Binat and sent it to the Bern Museum of Natural History for identification. H.A. Stalder studied these minerals with X-ray powder crystallography and photometric identification.
