For college English teachers who teach the history of British and American literature, it is always a teaching disagreement whether or not to add literary works to the class. Some teachers think that the course of literature history has many contents, heavy tasks, and is limited by class hours. Therefore, they strongly oppose adding the appreciation of literary works to the original compact teaching. However, some teachers think that the essence of literature lies in literary works. Literary history classrooms lacking in literary works are like a pool of stagnant water and have no life. Therefore, I do not think the literary history and literary works have the primary or secondary points, but rather combine the two in an appropriate way.
