PVA/CMC hydrogels of six concentrations were irradiated with electron beam under different doses. Then the properties of these hydrogels such as gel fraction and swelling ratios (before extraction and after extraction) were investigated. Table 1 shows the gel fractions of the two groups irradiated to different doses. From Table 1, it is easy to see that J3 and J4 groups gel fractions could reach up to the maximum value for the electron irradiation dose at about 40 kGy which implied that there exists a good electron irradiation dose for gel formation. The macroscopic properties such as diaphaneity, viscosity of the hydrogels were also detected. We found that some of the hydrogels are of good diaphaneity and moderate viscosity.
