2001年10月18日,CNNIC喜悦地通过各大新闻媒体对外宣布“CNNIC携手RealNames,通用网址无需下载软件”。以万网为代表的CNNIC代理商随即以“IE直接支持”为卖点,全力“叫卖”在任何一台电脑上都能使用的CNNIC通用网址。官方权威加上微软支持,颇有志在必得之势。 IE“直接支持”是RealNames向微软买的,RealNames允许CNNIC用,CNNIC要向它“交租”,因为RealNames要向微软交总租金。这本是完好的事物链,但RealNames突然交不起“租”了,它在2002年5月13日宣布破产。6月28日,微软对RealNames的支持停止之后,CNNIC“IE直接支持”的通用网址当然也就跟着彻底破产。皮之不存,毛将焉附?
