北京科技大学和阳泉市第一钢铁厂、阳泉钢铁公司共同承担的山西省重大科技攻关项目——粒化生铁-固态脱碳-电弧炉炼钢新工艺,工业性试验结果表明,这种炼钢方法具有如下优点: 与废钢-电弧炉炼钢法相比,它可以减少废钢的运输费和加工管理费,还可以热装炉。在我国废钢短缺的实际情况下,其优越性更大。与直接还原-电弧炉炼钢相比,它对原燃料没有特殊要求,也没有回转窑中粘结现象,生产率较高,脱磷效果好,可利用含磷高的铁矿石,能保证钢水质量。
