I. Overview For the development of tourism, to provide the majority of Chinese and foreign tourists with the means of transport, we built the Taishan passenger cableway. The main mechanical and electrical equipment of this cableway is imported from Japan. The rest of supporting equipment and civil works are designed by Beijing Nonferrous Metallurgical Design and Research Institute of the Ministry of Metallurgy. Construction started from July 1, 1981 groundbreaking, until August 5, 1983 opening ceremony, lasted 2 years and 1 month. Taishan Cableway Line (Figure 1) starts from Zhongtian Gate in the middle of Taishan and ends at Nantianmen at the top of the mountain (Figure 2). It is a three-lane reciprocating passenger ropeway.
