1980年,我国一些部门租用香港一国际联机检索终端,开创了国内计算机检索之先河。自此,机检事业便在我国发展起来,据统计,国内现有上百台国际终端与DIALOG、ESA等18个国外检索系统进行联机情报检索服务,全国终端遍布20个省市,并正向网络化发展。这对于发展我国的科学和情报事业无疑是件好事。但伴随着机检事业的发展,也出现了一种过热的倾向,这就是目前存在于科学界和情报界的对机检的盲目迷信之风。形成这种状况的主要原因有三:
