有人说,人们崇拜的偶像有的是神化了的人,有的是人化了的神。关羽,大概是中国人物神化后对人们影响最大的一个偶像。历史与文学作品中的关羽老百姓心目中的关羽形象主要来自《三国演义》,丹凤眼、卧蚕眉、面如重枣、五绺长髯、赤兔马、青龙刀,所有的中国人,不管是哪个民族,都知道这是关云长。人们几乎都能说上几件关羽忠义无二、神勇无敌的故事,但那大都是文学创造的产物,历史上的关羽和三国演义中的关羽,并不是一个人。例如《三国演义》中关羽的几件英雄事迹,就和历史记载相差甚远。
