踏着时间的脚步，人类迈入了21世纪，但回望20世纪的背影，我们却无不感慨万千：在旧中国，从八国联军火烧圆明园、军阀混战到日寇在中华大地上横行劫掠，大批国宝流落海外，爱国百姓、志士仁人奋起保护；在建国之后的几十年中，我们又经历了长达10年“文化革命”的空前浩劫，直到八、九十年代不时发生的盗墓狂潮，令人沉思、震惊和痛心疾首。我们这个曾经在历史上创造东方辉煌的民族，经历了屈辱战乱的苦难、停滞乃至倒退的困惑和改革开放初见富强的喜悦。古长安作为十三朝、尤其是周秦汉唐国都所在地，我们的祖先在这里上演了一幕又一幕波澜壮阔的活剧，在地上地下为我们留下了丰厚的历史文化遗存。他们有意无意的馈赠，在整个20世纪里伴随着被劫掠、被盗卖、被破坏的厄运，在后几十年中又出现了秦始皇陵兵马俑、唐法门寺地宫等轰动世界的考古发现，大批地下国宝赫然现世，一次次震惊世人，一步步身价增高，真可谓是百年风云、百年震撼!旧的百年去矣，身披新世纪的霞光，我们继往开来。从本期起，我们特刊发20世纪里陕西文物有重大影响的历史事件和考古发现，以缅怀和纪念那些曾为此而做出贡献的人们，用冷静和认真的心态看待历史，以便前有所稽，后有所鉴，以发扬光大中华文明。
