在解构主义盛行的今天,一切似乎都变得虚无与混乱。在此我们把“艺术是什么”、“艺术的标准”等这些艺术的根本问题暂时“悬置”起来,单看中国当代艺术所赖以生存的环境发生了什么样的变化,种种新的因素是如何进入当代艺术中,并最终如何影响了艺术的生存方式和意义,这些外围问题的研究也许不失为一种直击当代艺术的有效“策略”。当代艺术现象和作品是当代文化状况与社会心态的一种反映。中国当代美术所表现出来的混乱主要体现在偏离发展轨迹而与传统出现某种断裂上,也体现在受外来文化冲击而盲目模仿西方所产生的“偏差”上,其后果是当代艺术价值观念的混杂及主体性的丧失。这种混乱局面被批评家段炼称为“文化错位”,可以说,中国当代艺术的“混乱”局面正是当代社会文化复杂格局的反映。概而观之,中国当代艺术是在以下6个因素的“拉扯”中展开的。
